Yoga Poses For Glowing Skin

Admit it!We all love that naturally glowing skin more than any make up product that conceals it don’t we?!!

Our skin is more or less a reflection of our well being. The hair and skin are one of the best indicators of our mental and physical well being. Of course there are some that seem to be blessed with it, but most of us reflect what we eat , how much we exercise and how relaxed and stress free we are (does this stress you or does it make you feel better?).

Well, worry not because we have yoga to the rescue! Yoga actually calms the body and mind, by paying attention to the breath, we harmonize our system and feel more relaxed(oops!the secret is disclosed). Along with that, improving blood circulation throughout the body flushes out the toxins and helps nutrients reach the required areas.

So here I will start with some of the easiest postures that I regularly perform and you can start right away to achieve that glow you totally deserve.

1.Vajrasana : Vajrasana or the diamond pose is one of the easiest and most effective pose in Yoga. Very popular for it’s benefits in digestion, it was one of the common practices in the Indian households in the past.

Vajrasana cures many stomach related problems and improves digestion. A well digested food leads to better nutrition reach and therefore healthier skin and hair. It also stimulates blood circulation in the body. A few minutes of it will even calm your mind down. Will release a post shortly on it’s numerous benefits besides blessing us with outer beauty.




2. Shishuasana: Shishu asana or bal asana is one of the most relaxing poses to do, of course nothing beats Shavasana right?!

It improves circulation of blood in the body and relaxes the nervous system to a great extent, thereby leading to a stress free you. It is also said to alleviate stomach related problems like constipation and improves flexibility of the back and neck muscles. Also improves breathing style.




3. Trikonasana: The triangle pose, is very similar to what we did in our PT sessions in school isn’t it?

Apart from cutting the flab from your love handles, it also improves the texture and health of your skin. What more can a girl ask for right? Besides it also opens up and strengthens the sides of the body. Overall a must do asana for the health freaks.




4. Ustrasana: The camel posture is again a pose with multiple benefits. From providing flexibility to reducing fat, there is nothing this posture will not provide you with.

The pose stretches the back and therefore helps reduce back pain, relaxes the neck, back and abdominal muscles thereby also cures stomach back and neck related problems. It cuts the fat deposit in the areas including thighs along with providing blood circulation to the face and head and stimulates the endocrine glands. This is very helpful for overall well being and beauty that reflects it.

5. Matsyasana: Matsyasana is famously called the “destroyer of all diseases” as it is very helpful for overall well being and good health.

It improves posture which automatically improves circulation and breathing. Along with that it stimulates the abdominal and back muscles making them stronger and healthier.




6. Padhastasana: The forward bending pose has many variations, like placing the hand above or below the foot, touching your nose to the knee.

This is superb for the core muscles,it strengthens the core and the lower back muscles. Improves digestion and of course circulation to the head and face region along with tucking your tummy.It also improves stability.




7. Adho Mukha Shwanasan: The downward facing dog pose is more of a fun pose you do give your kids a ride!!

Very effective in removing fatigue or stiffness. It relaxes the mind and body. It also improves circulation of blood to the brain cells (So beauty with brains : check!!).

So here were some really simple on the go yoga poses for all of you willing to achieve a healthy, beautiful. glowing and younger looking skin and with healthy and silky hair.

Why Prefer Yoga Over Other Physical Exercises For Long Term

We all have our own preferences for everything in life: be it the food, the restaurant, the clothes, the brand, the movie, the actors, friends, jobs , skills , music, workout music etc. etc. etc. And it’s so good to have varied preferences, it brings variety- the spice in life, It makes us feel unique and gives us a sense of being opinionated. Similarly, we tend to have our preferences for the kind of workout we choose. Some of us are passionate athletes and want to go running in our nike hotpants , some are gym enthusiasts and the sense of achievement obtained on posting those greek godish images on social media is worth every drop of sweat. Some are adventurous and trekking is an every weekend stress buster while some are into Pilates or some dance forms. While most of us unanimously love the workout regime where they sit on the sofa and hog on the ice cream!! Well all of them have a certain thrill in them , I personally enjoy all of them so much, it is difficult to choose one, And mostly in case of confusion, I choose the last one :P. I completely support all kinds of exercises and being a national level basket ball player , I absolutely love sports, the best way to learn to build team spirit practically at young age, be friendly, accept defeat as sportingly as success, sports fill you with unmatched passion!!

But being a yoga trainer, I get asked this one question many times: Why Yoga over gym ?

To this my personal answer is :

Though both are good, Yoga has the hidden benefits we do not pay attention to.

  1. While working out, we only focus on the external body and muscles , not much attention goes to the breath and inner body. Yoga brings your attention to the breath, reminding you that everything outside exists only till you are breathing, and focuses on inner body as well.
  2. You are generally listening to your workout music or watching the t.v. in the gym for your workout motivation , which means not much attention is paid to what is going on in the mind, the thoughts or in general how you feel from within. Yoga and meditation relax the mind and increase your sense of awareness while practicing.

  3. Generally after a heavy workout, you are a little tired and would prefer to relax before you restart. After a session of yoga and meditation , you are absolutely ready to face the world as you are more energized. The mind is clean and clear to thing straight and function optimally. In fact if anything, work gets done faster because mind feels more content and happy.
  4. You mostly need props and need to get out of the house if you do not have a personal gym to lift those heavy weights , while yoga and meditation once learnt thoroughly can be done anywhere anytime. P.S. will also be sharing some cool yoga poses you can do even if you are a lazy bum!!
  5. Not everyone has the body type to be able to run, jump and lift heavy weights throughout their lives, but yoga is comparatively easier on the body, and improves the body functioning without much strain.
  6. There are less chances of getting an injured during yoga if done right, and flexibility can be increased gradually which reduces the risk of injuries and the affects of it.
  7. These being the major reasons, another one to add will be that the same results can be achieved with yoga if you have enough patience and time.

Wow!! I never knew I could come up with seven reasons, this is a surprise for me as well. But all that being said about yoga over gym ,I think we can all give it a try and decide what is best for us. Hope to see you all in my class soon. Much Love 🙂

The Third International Day Of Yoga

Hi guys!!

I hope you are all doing great !! I know it’s been a loooooong time since I have posted, I have been too busy with my day job, yoga and zumba sessions, also took some time out for a small vacation to bangaluru, will share about that as well in some time!!

But first things first: Yes the third International Day Of Yoga was celebrated on the 21st of june , 2017. Well, for those wondering why 21st of June was chosen to be it, there are two main reasons:

  1. This day marks the transition to DAKSHINAYANA , the day Shiva is said to have started imparting the knowledge of yoga to his disciples. The next six months of the year are considered more favorable for spiritual practices and yogic practices become more fruitful.
  2. This is the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere. So you see more time for yoga !!

And the third one being: My birthday is right one day after Yoga Day!!

So obviously Yoga Day becomes my day to invite even more people into this beautiful path of health , happiness and gratitude. It is said that when your intentions are pure, whatever you set out for definitely gets done. And guess what it did manifest for me. As it has been only a few months since I have decided to take Yoga and Zumba training to professional level, I am happy with all the love that is being showered on me. I am extremely grateful for all the positive responses and being able to make you realize how much fun this can be. Here are some pics from the sessions I conducted on Yoga Day.

The staff of this established engineering college in the middle of Pune City seemed to have the time of their lives in the morning, yoga and meditation do that to people. 🙂 And my sessions always contain both.

WHEN YOGA REACHES THE BOARDROOM, different kinds of meetings happen, the one with yourself! 🙂

As for yoga at home, yoga in office is slowly becoming a necessity as we spend most of our time there. It’s a great privilege to teach yoga to the people sitting on their chairs of uncountable hours of their lives and bring relief which is so visible on their smiling faces. Don’t believe me?
